How is Vastram different from using ChatGPT, Gemini or another general AI image tool?
General-purpose AI image tools generate one image from a prompt you write and rewrite each time, with no fashion-specific handling and no built-in place to keep a collection organized. Vastram Studio is purpose-built for fashion catalogs: garments are generated from per-type construction profiles (how a saree drapes, where a border sits, how a lehenga is actually three garments from one cloth — not a generic image transfer), you can reuse a saved model, background and pose across new designs instead of re-describing the look each time, and results land in catalog folders with bulk export and a branded PDF catalog built in.
How accurate is the generated garment compared to my real fabric?
Colour, texture, motif scale, motif direction and border position are carried from the reference photograph you upload, and the generator is explicitly instructed not to invent decoration the cloth doesn't have. In practice accuracy depends far more on your reference photo than on any setting — a sharp, flat, daylight-lit shot produces a materially better result than a soft one taken under tube light.
Can I use a generated colourway to approve a dye shade?
No. A generated colour variant is a design mock-up. Screen colour and dyed cloth are different things, and approving a shade from a generated image will disappoint the buyer who receives the lot. Use colourways to test which shades get a response, then dye and approve physically.
Are the models real people?
No. Every figure is AI-generated. They are not photographs of real individuals and are not based on any specific person. Never caption or describe them as real people.
What can't the AI do well?
Exact colour matching, fit validation against a real size chart, fine construction detail like stitch density and seam finish, and anything your reference photograph didn't capture. It also performs best on the garment types it has explicit construction profiles for; an unconventional cut is a guess.
How long does one image take?
We don't quote a fixed time, since it varies with load. In a bulk job, results appear as each image finishes rather than all at the end, so you can judge the direction early and cancel if it's wrong.

Rights and usage
Who owns the generated images?
You do. Subject to the terms and payment of fees, you own the AI-generated output images and can use them commercially without restriction — Instagram, WhatsApp catalogs, e-commerce listings and print. Vastram Studio retains no ownership claim over them.
Can I use generated photos on marketplace listings?
Marketplace policies on image sourcing, background, overlays and AI disclosure are set per platform and change without notice, so check the current seller guidelines for each platform you list on. What we can tell you is what the product outputs: clean, watermark-free, unbranded masters in standard portrait ratios. Keep logos and text overlays off listing images — those are commonly rejected regardless of how the photo was made.
Do I need to disclose that images are AI-generated?
Disclosure requirements differ by platform and jurisdiction and are changing quickly — check the rules where you publish. Independently of any rule: never present a generated figure as a photograph of a real person and never imply a photoshoot happened that didn't.
Can I resell access to the tool or generate for clients?
You can generate images for your own business and for clients you serve. Reselling, sublicensing or white-labelling access to the service itself requires prior written consent — see the terms.

Your images and data
What happens to the fabric photos I upload?
They're stored against your account and used to generate your images. You retain full ownership of everything you upload; the licence you grant is limited to storing, processing and transmitting it in order to provide the service to you. You can delete uploads at any time.
Are my uploaded models, poses and backgrounds private?
Yes. Assets you upload to your private library are scoped to your account. They are not added to the shared studio library or shown to other sellers.
Is a shared catalog link public?
Not by default. A lookbook share link carries a six-character passcode unless you clear it, runs for seven days before needing to be re-enabled, and auto-pauses after a high number of views. Those links are also deliberately excluded from our sitemap and from search engines.
Which third parties process my data?
Every sub-processor is listed by name, purpose and data shared in the privacy policy, along with retention periods and what happens when you close your account.

Getting started and support
What do I need before I sign up?
One photograph of a fabric or garment. Nothing else — no sample, no studio, no card. New accounts start with five free credits, which is enough to run a real design through the full workflow.
Which garments are supported?
Kurta, saree, kurti, lehenga, salwar suit, shirt and trousers, each with its own construction profile. Child sizing is built into every garment profile rather than being a separate type.
Can I generate photos of children's clothing?
Yes. Model type covers boys and girls, and every garment profile carries a child adaptation — adjusted length and proportions, plus reduced motif scale so a print stays believable on a smaller garment.
Something went wrong with a generation. Am I charged?
No. Credits for images that didn't produce a result are refunded automatically, a cancelled job refunds the shortfall, and a failed job can be retried without spending credits again within a per-job limit.
